Kyla Margulies

MC, R.Psych, Clinical Director

I am a Registered Psychologist with over 10 years of experience supporting people in the mental health field. My practice is focused on helping individuals and couples create meaningful, fulfilling, and emotionally safe relationships with themselves and others.

I work from an attachment lens, honouring our human need for emotional safety and belonging in our relationships. I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and mindfulness-based somatic modalities (Hakomi) to help clients acknowledge and understand their need for emotional safety, as it shows up in their lives. When appropriate and helpful, I also draw from Narrative, CBT, and Gottman Method interventions to best support my clients. I work collaboratively with my clients to assess the best approach for them.

In my work with individuals, I enjoy helping people foster a sense of safety in their body and trust in their ability to regulate emotions, effectively manage conflict and communicate their boundaries. My goal is to support individuals in creating awareness of the patterns that are keeping them stuck, and strategies to step out of them. Individual issues I can support with include mood (anxiety & depression), trauma, people pleasing, relationships (romantic, friendships & parenting), sexuality & gender, mind-body connection, and emotion regulation.

My work with couples centres on teaching partners the communication, emotion regulation, and conflict management skills to create safe emotional connection in their relationship. I help couples get to the root of their issues so they can find their way back to the same team. Relationship issues I can support with include communication, conflict management, feeling unheard and/or disconnected, sex & intimacy, infidelity, and trust. I work with couples of all gender, sexual, and love orientations with a particular passion for supporting the LGBTQ+ communities.

I am interested in building compassionate, accepting, and lasting relationships with clients who are willing and ready to make meaningful changes in their lives. Therapy can be a challenging and vulnerable process. To make it as easy and comfortable as possible, I promise to centre your needs in our work, to never assume I know what is best for you, and to accept every version of you I meet along the way.
