Fees & Billing

Fee Schedule

Effective January 1, 2026, we will be raising our counselling fees to align with the standards set forth by The Psychologists Association of Alberta. As part of our ongoing commitment to accessibility, we decided not to raise our fees in 2025 when the increase was initially recommended. We hope that delaying our fee increase by a year has given our clients, the community, and insurance companies time to adjust accordingly. Counselling fees are $235 per 50-minute session with our Registered Psychologists (R.Psych) and $215 per 50-minute session with our Registered Provisional Psychologists and Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC).

Sliding scale fees may be offered on an as-needed and case-by-case basis. Please check with your counsellor about their availability and your eligibility for our Sliding Scale Program.

Health Benefit Insurance

Depending on your current health insurance provider, our services may be covered in part or in full. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychologist and clinical counsellor services.

We recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, how much is it?

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

Payment

For your convenience, we have implemented touchless payment through our clinic management software which means no more awkward waiting to pay your bill after an appointment. Your card details will be securely stored in our clinic software, and you will receive an emailed receipt once payment is processed.

We accept payment by credit card, visa debit card, and debit master card. You will be prompted to input your card details when creating your profile on Jane, our clinic software.

For clients who prefer to send e-transfers, we require the payment to be sent at least 48-hours prior to your appointment. This pre-payment confirms & secures your appointment.

Jane adheres to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) to ensure the safety of you card information.

Direct Billing

The Calgary Counselling and Psychology Centre may be able to offer direct billing. In the case that your provider is not listed below, you can submit your receipts to your health benefits plan for reimbursement. Additionally, please note that psychologist’s fees are tax deductible and you can submit them when filing your taxes.

Eligibility for direct billing is dependent on the licensing of your counsellor:

For Registered Psychologists (R. Psych) we offer direct billing for the following benefit providers:

  • Alberta Blue Cross

  • Greenshield

  • Medavie Blue Cross (Kayla Hughes Only)

  • Veterans Affairs Canada (Kayla Hughes Only)

  • Telus E-claims, including:

    • Canada Life

    • Canada Life - Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP)

    • Industrial Alliance

    • Desjardins

    • Johnston Group

    • Manulife

For Registered Provisional Psychologists we offer direct billing for Alberta Blue Cross and Greenshield. All other benefit companies require the client to submit receipts from sessions with Registered Provisional Psychologists.

Currently, we are unable to offer direct billing for Canadian Certified Counsellors. Receipts will need to be submitted for reimbursement.

Appointment and Cancellation Policy

Appointments are scheduled at 60 minutes or 1 hour in length. Of this hour, 50 minutes are allocated to you and your counsellor for therapy and the remaining 10 minutes to your counsellor for record keeping. If you arrive late to your session, your counsellor will still need to end the session at the scheduled time. If your counsellor is late to the session, they will make the time up.

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure to notify your counsellor at least 24-hours in advance so that other clients are given a chance to book it. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hour’s notice will be charged a Late Cancellation Fee.

  • Cancellations 12 - 24 hours before the appointment will incur a charge equal to 50% of your session fee.

  • Cancellations less than 12 hours before the appointment are considered no-shows and will incur a charge equal to the full session fee.

These fees will be automatically be charged to the card on file. For this reason, we require all clients to have valid credit cards on their Jane App account.
