We’re committed to protecting personal information and respecting your privacy.

Our privacy policy (“policy”) explains how we handle the personal information we collect as part of our day-to-day business and lets you know about your rights when it comes to your personal information. We’ll always be clear about how and when we collect, use and share your personal information and we will never sell your personal information.

Cookie policy


We will retain your cookie preferences for 6 months after which we will ask you to select them again. If you clear your cookie settings in your browser before 6 months, we will ask you to select your cookie preferences the next time you access our website.  

This Cookie policy applies when you use Calgary Counselling and Psychology Centre website and mobile applications (collectively referred to as Online Services).

Cookies are used when you read or download information on our Online Services. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are used to store your settings and preferences such as sign-in details and language preferences to improve your experience on your next visit to our Online Services. We also use cookies to measure our site performance to help identify how we could improve our site. Cookies may also be used for advertising related purposes on third-party websites you visit.  

We use 2 types of cookies:
 

  1. Session cookies are erased when you close your browser and leave our website. 

  2. Persistent cookies remain on your computer when you close your browser and leave our Online Services.  
     

Cookies set by Calgary Counselling and Psychology Centre are called "first-party cookies." These cookies are used to collect analytics data, remember language settings, sign-in details and other preferences to provide a tailored experience. Cookies set by parties other than us are called "third-party cookies." These cookies are often persistent cookies and allow third-party features or functionality such as advertising and interactive content and analytics to be provided on our Online Services, or through other websites. 

Web beacons are also referred to as pixel tags. They are embedded in a web page or email and are not usually visible to you. Web beacons are used for many of the same purposes as cookies, including measuring activity on the website or email they are embedded in. If the purpose of the web beacon is to set a cookie, disabling cookies will prevent that. 

The type of data being collected 

We gather data when you interact with our Online Services. The data we collect may include:

  • When you visit to our site

  • How you explore our websites including which pages you visit, when you visit and for how long

  • How you navigated to our site (such as from a search engine or third-party site)  

  • Information about the device and browser used and other similar details

How we use the data being collected

The data that we collect from you when you interact with our Online Services may be used for the following purposes. 

Essential functionality and security

We use the information collected to securely verify your identity when you sign in and navigate our Online Services. We may use information about your browsing session as you navigate our Online Services so they can function properly.  

Personalized functionality 

We use the information collected to provide functionality to personalize and improve your experience, such as remembering your sign in-id and your language selection for future visits. 

Data Analytics 

When you use our Online Services, we use web analytics to understand your needs. The data collected helps us understand how many visitors we get, times when visitors come to our site, which pages are the most and least popular and how visitors move around the site. This helps us to measure and understand engagement with our Online Services so that we can enhance your experience by making it easier to find information about our products and services. These analytics tools use cookies and may capture your IP address. 

Advertising 

We use third parties (like Google, Meta, and LinkedIn) to deliver advertisements for our products and services on their websites and applications based on your browsing interactions with our Online Services. These third parties use their own technologies, which include cookies and pixel tags, to deliver our advertisements based on how you interact with our Online Services. If you interact with our advertisements on the third-party websites and applications, we may also track your engagement so we can evaluate the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns.  

You may still see advertisements even if you turn off advertising cookies. These are part of our advertising campaigns which are not linked to your browsing history. 

Geolocation 

We may also offer location-enabled services on our Online Services, such as Google Maps. These services may receive information about your actual location or information that can be used to approximate your location. You will be asked for your consent to use the geolocation service.

Social media platforms

Calgary Counselling and Psychology Centre is active with social media and you may interact with us on these platforms. These platforms are not ours so if you use them, they will have their own cookie policies, privacy policies, and terms of use.  We aren’t affiliated with the providers of the social media platforms we use. Content that you post is not private and may be seen by anyone who uses the platform.  We advise you to read the privacy policies and terms of use of these platforms and other websites before using them and posting any personal information.

Calgary Counselling and Psychology Centre reserves the right to remove any posts or comments that constitute or include sensitive personal information, personal attacks, defamatory, abusive or hateful comments.

 

Transfer of Your Personal Data

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company's operating offices and in any other places where the parties involved in the processing are located. It means that this information may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of Your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from Your jurisdiction.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by Your submission of such information represents Your agreement to that transfer.

The Company will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that Your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of Your Personal Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of Your data and other personal information.

 

Delete Your Personal Data

You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting the Personal Data that We have collected about You.

Our Service may give You the ability to delete certain information about You from within the Service.

You may update, amend, or delete Your information at any time by signing in to Your Account, if you have one, and visiting the account settings section that allows you to manage Your personal information. You may also contact Us to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that You have provided to Us.

Please note, however, that We may need to retain certain information when we have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.

 

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business Transactions

If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers.

If We need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing Your information and Your country requires consent from a parent, We may require Your parent's consent before We collect and use that information.

Links to Other Websites

Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link, You will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise You to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

We will let You know via email and/or a prominent notice on Our Service, prior to the change becoming effective and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
