Jackie Larkin

MACP, Canadian Certified Counsellor
*I support clients virtually across Canada*

My professional journey in the mental health field has instilled a deep commitment to supporting neurodivergent adults, as well as clients experiencing relationship challenges, trauma & PTSD, anxiety & depression, disordered eating, body image concerns, perfectionism, shame, burnout, emotional dysregulation, and life transitions.

As a neurodivergent individual and an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider in training, I approach counselling with a neurodivergent-affirming perspective that embraces the unique strengths and identities of my clients. We will explore what your neurodivergence means for you; honouring your passions and interests, examining diverse forms of communication and self-expression, and attending to sensory needs, while addressing challenges that are amplified in environments shaped by neurotypical norms. I focus on providing support, accommodations, and strategies that empower neurodivergent clients to thrive authentically as themselves.

In my work with couples, I draw on my training in Gottman Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2) and integrate key principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy to offer practical, evidence-based tools that strengthen communication, foster intimacy, reduce conflict, rebuild trust, and cultivate a shared sense of safety and connection. My goal is to help partners feel equipped to navigate conflict with clarity and compassion, develop healthier, more attuned ways of relating to one another, and co-create the relationship they desire.

Engaging a trauma-informed approach, I offer counselling to first responders, caregivers, and individuals seeking relief from the debilitating effects of trauma, including PTSD, CPTSD, attachment trauma, intergenerational trauma, occupational stress, and traumatic events related to natural disasters or workplace incidents. Clients are invited to explore how these experiences have influenced their lives, while developing personalized strategies for managing triggers, building resilience, and regulating the intensity of emotional and physiological responses linked to distressing memories. I am dedicated to creating a safe space where clients are supported in processing past experiences and integrating empowering skills and insights that facilitate self-compassion and healing.

For me, incorporating a holistic view means that we will consider the intersecting identities and broader systems that shape the range of your lived experiences and influence your well-being. This perspective is foundational for attending to the shame, guilt, self-devaluation, and conflict that often emerge in invalidating and oppressive environments. As part of a comprehensive framework for care, I collaborate with clients to navigate pathways toward connection and stability in both personal and collective contexts, including identifying community resources and providing written documentation to advocate for necessary accommodations.

I draw on a blend of evidence-based therapeutic modalities tailored to meet each client’s specific needs. This includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Mindfulness and Somatic practices.By integrating these diverse approaches, I offer an individualized experience that promotes growth and lasting change.

Building an authentic therapeutic alliance is at the heart of my work. It would be an honour to provide a secure space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued.
